Tips for Customers: Selecting the Correct Length: Assess your project’s requirements to choose the most appropriate length, minimizing waste and ensuring structural integrity. Storage: Store in a dry, ventilated area to maintain the timber’s quality before use. If stored outdoors, elevate off the ground and cover to protect from the elements. Safety First: When cutting or handling treated timber, always wear protective gear, including gloves and a mask, to avoid exposure to dust and preservatives. Timber is graded in strength classes, relative to BS EN 14081-1: 2005, ie C16 or the stronger C24 grade. These grades denote a group of species / strength grade combinations which have similar strength / mechanical properties. C16 graded timber is kiln dried and is primarily used for internal building work, mainly in floor and roof joists. The timber is usually machine graded or can be visually graded, having regard to criteria, such as the number of knots, fissures and slope of the grain etc. This C16 timber is also treated for longer life outdoors.
